EFFICACY OF HERO PLUS, the 100% natural bio-pesticide Yarok Biotech, Bangalore have developed a 100% Bio-natural/bio-product. This contains unique eco - friendly completely organic ingredients. HERO PLUS, the bio pesticide have undergone the field trials for its efficacy against various pests in Cabbage, in Gudalur Taluk, Theni district of Tamilnadu, India. The field trials of HERO PLUS have brought in very exciting results; wherein, HERO PLUS is found to be superior in its efficacy against various pests as mentioned below: HERO PLUS applied in the range of 2-3ml/Litre of water on cabbage crop of 30 days as well as 60 days old crop. The said field was infested with Cabbage Looper (Trichoplusia ni). It is an active moth in the night and lays egg on the outer surface of the open leaves. The color of its egg is greenish – white and the egg brings out a mature greenish white stripes larvae. These larvae starts eating from the peripheral of the leaves and moves to the centre of the leaves. It is observed that this larvae is the most destructive of larvae. Looper cause great damage to the cabbage head. And once the cabbage is infested with this, it is hard to control its proliferation. However, in our field trial, it was noted that the larvae stops eating immediately after the foliar spray of HEROPLUS in the dose of 2ml/ litre and in addition have noticed the complete mortality within 5 days of its administration. HERO PLUS is found to be effective against Cabbage webworm (Hellula rogatalis). This worm is originated from a moth that are brownish – yellow in color, which has the ability to camouflage with soil color. The respective moth lays eggs on the outer side of the leaf during the maturation stage of the plant. Eggs will bring out a larvae, which are dull, grayish yellow and marked with 5 visible brownish-purple lateral stripes. Their heads bear a V-shaped mark and black in color. In our field trial, it is noted that HEROPLUS on application have brought complete mortality to the webworm within 5 days in the dose of 2-3ml on mature as well as semi mature plants. Our field trials were found to be very effective against diamond back moth caterpillars. Plutella xylostella (Diamond back moths) is a moth that has a special wing (have three diamond shaped mark). These moths move in a faster pace as and when it is disturbed. Their eggs are small and yellowish white in color. On On the other hand, the larvae are light green colored. As the moth race faster its larvae too wiggle out on a faster pace. Further, due to the saliva that forms into a silk like thread, it often it appears to be hanging on it. Eventhough, this larvae prefers young buds of the plant, it feed on all parts of the plant. HEROPLUS found to be very effective against diamond back caterpillars as well.

Do we have an alternative for neem coated urea in the form of karanja Oil coated urea? Nitrogen is the most critical as well as significant component of Agricultural production. Currently, most of these nitrogen is being supplied by Urea in paramount forms of cultivation. However, the challenge for most of the farmers as well as the agronomist, is that the nitrogen within the urea is getting hydrolyzed rapidly when it comes in contact with soil. And these hydrolysis bring out various forms of Nitrogen. Among these forms, some evaporates and some escapes the soil and the rest loses nitrogen use efficiency. This development usually work against the soil as well as the crops. In this way, normally 50% of the applied nitrogen fertilizer is getting wasted and in turn is adversely impacting the overall nature of the soil. Moreover, the accumulated unusable nitrogen rescinds the underground water quality. To overcome this challenge, agriculturists have introduced the usage of costly chemicals (Ammonium thiosulphate, Dicyandiamide & Nitrapyrin etc) which aids in controlling the nitrification of the soil. However, the addition of these chemicals further violates the basic characteristics of the soil. To circumvent this phenomenon, lately researchers have dotted on neem oil or neem cake as the natural ingredient that can be coated to prevent nitrification. The result of this large scale use have been phenomenal. The yield has increased dramatically and also the soil quality in general. The neem oil coat have largely prevented the nitrification of soil. Based on the extensive studies and its subsequent report, Government have proposed the use of neem coated urea for large scale agricultural production. This recent development did create positive impact in the organic produce market. It has led to ripples in neem oil market wherein, neem oil market have reached a situation of high demand and low supply. Neem oil being the natural product, the production can’t be increased substantially in a short span of time. Therefor, in order to tide over this challenge, farmers have come up with the usage of less demand and high supply oil called Karanja (Pongamia Glabra) as an alternative to neem oil in coating urea. Since, Karanja oil contains both the insecticidal property as well as hydrolysing nature similar to that of neem; Karanja oil is being flaunted as a natural alternative for neem oil. Karanja is also called as Millettia pinnata, is a species of tree in the pea family, Fabaceae, native in tropical and temperate Asia including parts of Indian subcontinent, China, Japan, Malaysis, Australia and Pacific Islands. It is often known by the synonym Pongamia pinnata as it was moved to the genus Millettia only recently. Common names include Indian beech, Pongamoiltree, karanj (Hindi), honge (ಹೊಂಗೆ in Kannada), pungai (புங்கை in Tamil), kānuga (కానుగ in Telugu), karach (করচ গাছ in Bengali), naktamāla (नक्तमाल in Sanskrit). Considering the high price for Neem oil and low price of Karanja oil, we can consider Karanja Oil as an alternative for coating urea and as well as an insect repellent in organic farming.

WHAT IS THE EFFECTIVE MODE OF FERTILIZER APPLICATION? If only we can identify the best and the proper mode of fertilizer application, the farmers in general and the end consumers will be better off. The primitive and traditional mode of application is broadcasting method, wherein the fertilizer is spread around the crops, mostly sprayed as granules to the base of the crops. Uptake of the most of the fertilizer are in question. This mode results in wastage of the fertilizer, in addition the soil is doesn’t take in everything it receives consequently leads to soil acidification. The process of transportation of the fertilizers to the core phytochemical centres requires formulation excellence. Solid components in the fertilizer mix have to undergo bio chemical transformation through solubilisation process, in order to aid the absorption. On the other hand, there are many products currently in the market like POWER UP (The Organic NPK), HUMIPRO ( HUMUS), FULVIPRO ( FULVIC), SEABOON ( SEA WEED EXTRACT), NUTRIGRO ( COMBO OF HUMIC N FULVIC) etc are available in the liquid form(absorbable form). Since, all these are already in the form of liquid formulation, it can be easily administered in foliar space. Best of the organic, naturals and bio products manufactured at Yarok Biotech, Bangalore consists of unique formulation ingredients. These ingredients aids in shuttling out the actives through the xylem and phloem and other leafy pores. The actual required content of actives with additives shall be directly applied without losing any of the applied content. Why Foliar Spray Nutrition is Important? There is a disturbance in the absorption of nutrients, due to the presence of weeds, poor aeration and frequent rain or draught and in this kind of scenario’s foliar sprays of HUMIPRO and FULVIPRO will restore the crops in a faster pace. In the case of damage to the root system is either mechanically or through pest damage, Foliar sprays of SEA BOON or NUTRIGRO can provide growth to the plant. Nutrient uptake via leaves and shoot is considerably fast, if the formulation contains permeation enhancing agent. If the plant or crops require faster recovery after a stress condition. Product like POWERUP will enhance the growth manifold as compared to the traditional sprays.
